Research should solve current limitations while building permanent long-term strength. Unlike temporary buffs or equipment that can be moved, completed research becomes part of your account and continues providing value.

The goal is not to complete every branch equally. Your research should improve efficiency, support your main squad and prepare the account for advanced progression.

Begin With Efficiency

Early development research can reduce the time and resources required for future growth.

Useful priorities include:

  • Construction speed

  • Research speed

  • Resource production

  • Resource gathering

  • Training speed

  • Hospital capacity

  • Development efficiency

These upgrades may not create dramatic combat-power increases, but their value compounds. A small reduction applied to hundreds of future building, research and training projects can save a significant amount of time and resources.

Complete enough efficiency research to create a functional development foundation, but do not remain in those branches so long that combat progress is ignored.

Develop Combat Research

Once the account has a reliable development base, begin strengthening the formation you use most.

Prioritize research that improves:

  • Hero attack, defense and health

  • Unit attack, defense and health

  • March size

  • Your primary squad type

  • Troop performance

  • Rally and reinforcement effectiveness

  • Hospital and healing support

March-size research can be especially valuable because it allows more troops to enter battle. Hero and unit bonuses improve the performance of those troops once they arrive.

Avoid dividing resources evenly among Tank, Aircraft and Missile research if only one is your primary formation. Develop the branch supporting your main team first. The other squad types can follow when the account is ready to build functional secondary formations.

Special Forces and Advanced Research

Special Forces becomes increasingly important as the account develops. It provides major combat improvements and is connected to advanced troop progression.

It can also become extremely expensive, particularly in gold. Prepare before these costs become a barrier.

Protect gold by:

  • Keeping gold chests closed until needed

  • Improving production and gathering

  • Avoiding low-value research

  • Saving research speedups

  • Planning expensive projects in advance

  • Coordinating major completions with scoring events

Starting an advanced project without preparing for the research that follows can leave the account stalled. Look beyond the current upgrade and understand what the next stage will require.

Keep Tech Centers Working

An idle Tech Center produces no progress. Try to keep research active, even when saving resources for a major project.

Long, high-value research can run during inactive hours. Shorter projects can fill gaps when resources are limited or before a scoring period begins.

When possible, time important completions with Arms Race, Alliance Duel or another event. The research should still be valuable on its own—the event rewards are an additional benefit.

Common Research Traps

Players often weaken their progress by:

  • Researching only what gives the most displayed power

  • Ignoring development efficiency

  • Spreading research across all three squad types

  • Starting expensive research without enough gold

  • Leaving Tech Centers idle

  • Advancing minor bonuses while important unlocks remain incomplete

  • Using universal speedups when research speedups are available

Displayed power should not be the only reason for choosing a project. A smaller upgrade that improves march size, development speed or your primary formation may provide more real value.

Research With a Purpose

Before beginning a project, ask:

  • What does this research improve?

  • What does it unlock?

  • Does it support my main squad?

  • Is another branch currently limiting my progress?

  • Can I afford the projects that follow?

  • Can I time the completion with a scoring event?

Strong research creates efficiency now and strength later. Build the foundation, support your main formation and prepare early for the expensive branches ahead.

RESEARCH WITH PURPOSE. BUILD PERMANENT STRENGTH.
